What is a DMC?
DMC is the short cut for Destination Management Company.
It means a travel agency in a destination that has all
the contacts with hotels, transportation companies,
restaurants and bars, artistic venues, guides, etc. to
create a program for a trip in the country and make all
the necessary arrangements. DMCs in general are not big
agencies catering for mass tourism but agencies that
with enthusiasm and expertise organize creative and a la
carte programs for demanding clients either for
individual or group travel. DMCs are only active in the
country where they are settled and only do arrangements
for arriving guests, and don't sell outbound travel to
other destinations. This way they keep focused on their
destination and guarantee the quality of their offers.
What is 'World of DMC's'?
World of DMC's is a professional non-profit organization
that groups DMC's all over the globe. It was founded in
2006 by Paul Stephen from the DMC Afracadabra in South
Africa and has now members from almost every country in
the world. The members share professional experiences in
their annual meetings, in their website (www.dmc.travel)
and newsletters.
The main goal of the organization is to form a joint
platform towards travel professionals that handle
outbound tourism and are constantly looking for
qualitative and committed DMC's all over the world.
